Body Measurements

Measuring the "health" of your physical body can take many forms.

These are the  three metrics we recommend you knowing, measuring, and recording regularly to know exactly the status of your body:
a) Weight
b) Girth
c) % bodyfat (only with appropriate tools)

WEIGHT

  • Get a bathroom scale that you trust.
  • Get naked.
  • Weigh yourself.
  • For repeated weighings, do it at the same time of day (preferably first thing in the morning)

GIRTH

  • Get a measuring tape.
  • Measure (in inches or cm) the circumference of your body in 2 places:
    a) at your bellybutton
    b) at the peak of your buttocks
  • Record the numbers.
  • You can also add them up for 1 total number.

BODYFAT

This is best accomplished by visiting your gym, trainer, or health coach and having them measure your bodyfat with bodyfat calipers, or using more advanced methods  like underwater weighing, a BodPod, or even a DEXA Scan.

You can use a simple bathroom scale (which uses the bioimpedance method), but these can often be quite inaccurate.
